One of the characteristics that enhance the importance of Yaxha is its name, which has been proven to be the same with wich its inhabitants denominated this city.

To a few minutes away from Yaxha, and situated in one of the three major isles of the Yaxha lagoon, is located Topoxte which homes a small but intenerating Mayan cities that was one of the biggest post classic ceanters in all of Petén. The little and plane stelae that have been decorated and placed in the Plaza Mayor, are a distinctive characteristic of the Island, you will also observe the different pottery styles and also the singular characteristics of the magnificent temples.

Itinerary -One day

Pick you up at your hotel or the Mundo Maya International Airport, Santa Elena, Petén. Our journey starts towards the archaeological site situated on the shores of the Yaxhá Lagoon. We will visit the group A, B and C structures including temple 216. We will arrive at the visitors’ center and the archaeologists camping grounds. After lunch, we will approach a boat that will take us to the archaeological site Topoxté, located in a small barren island within the lagoon of Yaxhá. In the evening we return to Yaxhá where we will approach our minibus andl head back to your hotel.
