Turismo Aventura provides essential tips before you come to Guatemala

Visa requirements: Valid passport, with or without Visa, depending on the case. (Consult the embassy or consulate near you. No immunization certificate needed to enter the country.

Departure taxes air flight of $30.00 and Q20.00 for local flights.

Currency The national currency is the QUETZAL named after the national bird. It has coins of Q.0.01, Q0.05, Q.0.10, Q.0.25, Q.0.50 cents, and Q.1.00. However, the North American dollars are accepted. Unlike the US dollars, the European currency, Euros accepted only in very few places and their exchange rate is very low. The backs generally open 9:00am to 7:00pm.

Commercial schedules Banks operate on a Monday to Friday basis, from 9:00am to 7:00pm. On Saturdays from 10:00 am to 2:00pm. 24 hour ATMs are available.

Commercial offices: generally open from 8:00am to 12:00 and from 2:00pm to 5:00pm. Shopping centers and business: open from 08:00am to 9:00pm.

Tip It is habit to leave 10% to 15% tip of the service (it is not usually included within the price of the foods or any other type of service).

Means of Payment Although the dollar is generally accepted, the exchange of foreign currencies to national currency is carried out in banks and authorized agencies. The credit cards frequently accepted are, VISA, Diners and Master Card. Traveler´s checks are also welcome.

Electricity In general, the electricity is of 110 volts of 60 cycles and in some cases 220 volts. It is advised to all tourists to bring current converter if their kit doesn’t bring
