Currency The national currency is the QUETZAL named after the national bird. It has coins of Q.0.01, Q0.05, Q.0.10, Q.0.25, Q.0.50 cents, and Q.1.00. However, the North American dollars are accepted. Means of Payment Although the dollar is generally accepted, the exchange of foreign currencies to national currency is carried out in banks and authorized agencies. The credit cards frequently accepted are, VISA, Diners and Master Card. Traveler´s checks are also welcome.
