is an archaeological site is 4 times the
size of Tikal, and was abandoned hundreds
years before Tikal. Why.? Is just one
of the mysteries that the Archaeological
site El Mirador locks up In
this vast jungle composition of more than
200 animal species and plants which compress
the magic and splendor of this extensive
place.

Itinerary
5 days & 4 nights
from 7:30
am to 18:00 pm
DAY
1: A minibus will take you to Carmelita. Upon
arriving, we will have breakfast at a local eating
place and soon meet the local people. A local
guide from Carmelita will join you and maybe others,
the horses will be loaded with food, water and
gear. Afterwards you will start your trek towards
Mirador and 8 hrs later arrive to the Campamento
Del Nacimiento, Lunch will take place during the
route. Arriving the guide and/or helper will prepare
the camp, dinner and each person will sleep in
a small tent.
(it
takes approx. 7- 8 hrs. You will have 2 horses
for three persons. You take turns riding. You
will walk thru mud and some water.
DAY
2. Breakfast in the camp, then start the hike
to the Archaeological Site El Mirador. Horses
will take the luggage, some alking some riding.
Lunch in route. Arrival to El Mirador in the late
afternoon, we will have a rest then dinner and
sleep.
DAY
3. Breakfast at our camp in El Mirador, we will
visit the site and often watch and converse with
the archaeologists doing explorations of the ruins,
if you wish you can climb the greatest pyramid
of the Mayan world, with a height approximately
of 79 mts. Lunch. Rest and have dinner.
DAY
4. After breakfast we will start the journey back
towards El Campamento Del Nacimiento. Lunch in
route. Upon arriving, we will prepare the camp,
dinner, and camp.
DAY
5. Breakfast at camp, and return to Carmelita,
lunch. In the afternoon depart back to Flores.
El
Mirador Trail is recommended to hikers
in good physical condition, prepared to cope with
long hikes and rugged terrain. Virtually every
day in the expedition is spent walking or riding
horses. Eight hour treks are not uncommon. There
mosquitos and other insects.
